All About good Grow

Our Mission

Good Grow Organics was founded in 2016 with a vision to demystify composting at home with bokashi, help people manage the bad smells of their food waste, divert food waste from landfills and teach communities to care for their gardens in a more sustainable way.

Meet Our Founder

RONNIE McCORD

FOUNDER / CEO

Ronnie was first inspired to start a garden while on a trip to East Africa in 2012. While in Uganda, he noticed that a majority of homes were growing one or more types of edible plants. He also took note that nature was abundantly growing food in the mountains and forest with little to no human intervention. Upon arriving back home in San Diego, he dove deep into his new gardening hobby. His love of fresh food and produce spurred him to pack over one hundred different plant species into a tiny urban backyard. Ronnie quickly learned that a major factor in growing good plants and food is healthy, nutrient-rich soil, which San Diego generally lacks. He needed a way to bring his soil back to life which was cost effective, could be maintained in a small space and also would not cause a nuisance for neighbors. This is when he found bokashi.

Why We do what We Do

After a lot of experimentation and community collaboration, Ronnie has turned his hobby into Good Grow Organics. Now, the hope is to take away the negative perceptions around composting and increase returns of organic matter back to the soil. Through Good Grow Organics, we hope to continue to create products, provide services and partner with the community to find solutions to some of our communities’ biggest challenges for many years to come.
